1884 Zeyer Julius:
"Gompaci a Komurasaki"
Novel, incl. some reference to Japanese tea (just a few words in a preface) by Czech writer - in his romantic version of Japanese legendary story about Gompachi and Komurasaki

"Japonska cajovna"
1st teahouse in Japanese style - 茶屋 ChaYa (with Japanese tea and even some Japanese staff) introduced to Prague - at Jubilee exhibition of 'Chamber of trade and commerce' ("Fairground", U Vystaviste, Praha 7)
- designed by 「保呂宇波・ジョエ」 HLOUCHA 'Joe' Josef (1881-1957), Czech traveler, collector and writer concentrated on Japan.
{teahouse moved to "Palace Lucerna", opened in 1909 as: "Jokohama" ( [yokohama] ; inside incl. signs in Japenese: 日本喫茶店 [Nihon kissaten] ="Japanese tearoom"); room had capacity c.200 seats and was located underground, on the left side of the passage from Vodickova street ; tearoom's operation teminated in 1916 and Japanese equipment finally removed in 1924 ... today this space occupies restaurant "Hospoda Lucerna"} ...
NOTE: ?about same time one more tearoom of Hloucha brothers was shortly in "Alhambra", Praha 1

(result of steady personal research activity of Association's members) ;
Note: Tea Association's logo was composed of letters Č,A,J (čaj =Czech word for 'tea') stylized into the shape of Sino-Japanese character for tea {originally 'Č' stood for China (=in Czech: Čína), 'A' for England (=Anglie) and 'J' for Japan (=Japonsko) - the most important countries for the tea culture} ;

DISCLAIMER : Since about turn of the century, many other above not mentioned tea related events (etc.) take place in Czechia ... there is absolutely no intention to ignore anybody's merit, but comprehensive coverage of this topics lies beyond the border of this basic research.

CAUTION: more and more Japanese teas enter the Czech market ... but! in fact sometimes it is only "so-called" Japanese tea, which origin and quality is very disputable (moreover, some "letterings" in Japanese appear even on non-Japanese teas packages - e.g.: 美味しいお茶 etc...)

¶ WHEN CALLING / FAXING TO THE CZECH REPUBLIC FROM ABROAD - before the above mentioned TEL / FAX numbers dial:
local international prefix/number (='International Direct Dialing' ; e.g.from Japan:"001-010") and then Czech 'Country Code' number "420"
